First Play Date

Sam had his first play date with Addison last week. Addison is Andrew's baby sister and was born 14 days before Sam. Andrew was born 15 days before Henry.

Wade and I met Kristin and Matt when we were in our first trimester with Henry...little did we know that Kristin was in her first trimester too. Then, the same night Kristin shared her news about being pregnant with Addison, I shared that Wade and I were expecting Peanut. Needless to say, there will be many play dates with the Herril kiddos in our future.

That's better. Now they can actually see each other.

It's deja vu...from left to right, Andrew and Henry during their first play date.

Friends

Sam was surrounded by family and friends during our stay in the hospital last week...hard to believe it's already been one week.

Since we've been home, Sam has been back to the hospital for a weight check, which he passed with flying colors. I've been back to the hospital to have my staples removed...yikes! Didn't know I would have staples this time...last cesarean the doctor used glue. During surgery I heard the word "staple" and immediately got nervous about having them removed. I had 16 staples and I only felt one being removed...so, for any friends with staples in their future, have no fear. It was painless...the staples, not the surgery. Sam has also had his 1 week appointment with our pediatrician. Dr. Wilsey said "he is perfect". We go back this Wednesday just to be sure Sam is continuing to gain weight, but expect a good report. Sam's appetite has come to life the last few days and he's eating every 2 - 3 hours. Now, if we could just keep him awake during feedings...

Matine visits Henry

The week before Sam was born, we were blessed with some much needed time with friends. Brooke and Matine were here from Montana, and came with Micca to visit us in Stillwater on Sunday afternoon. Poor Matine wasn't quite feeling like herself, but was such a trooper. We hope you're better, Matine! And we love you Brooke and Micca! Thanks for making our afternoon.

Delivery

Moments before they wheeled me into the OR...in less than 1 hour, we were going to meet our Sam.

Daddy in his scrubs.

You should have seen Wade trying to get his blue booties over his cowboy boots. Gave me a good laugh and helped ease the nerves before spinal block time.

Two spinal blocks later, at 12:33 pm, Samuel Wade Shaw is born! Welcome Baby Sam!
9 lbs. 5 ounces, 22 inches
Sam had his big brother beat in pounds, but Henry still holds the record for length.

Check out all that hair!

My how he's grown!

Our two-year-old boy! Who finally grew hair!

Henry has enjoyed helping us assemble his old bouncer, swing, and much, much more. I walked into the nursery yesterday and found him sitting in the bouncer, reading his books. What a good big brother he is going to be!

Tomorrow is the big day! Thanks in advance for your prayers.

Kix's

So, I gave Henry some cereal, left the room for two minutes (literally), and returned to find Henry decorating the hallway. Not a huge mess you might be thinking...but try getting down on all fours to clean when you're as round as I am. Needless to say, Henry is learning to help mommy clean up his messes and got good practice on this day.
