5 Months Old

We can hardly believe Henry had his 5 month birthday last Thursday...where has the time gone?! It seems like yesterday we were pouring over the Q&A's in "What to Expect the First Year".

While Wade was off enjoying a day of college football with Mick, Henry and I partied with the Class of '98 in Blackwell during Homecoming. Henry experienced his first parade, football game (albeit high school), and on Sunday night, his first helping of cereal. He was so pooped from the weekend, Henry slept until 7:30 Monday morning.

Grandma surprised Henry with his very own Blackwell jumperoo. Doesn't he look surprised?

Look at me! I'm jump, jump, jumperoo-ing!

Henry is fast asleep in his swing right now (FINALLY). It's the first nap he's had all day...apart from the 30 minute cat nap he had in my arms this afternoon. I'm told Henry naps for up to two hours at a time for Candice during the week days...Wade and I must learn her secret! He is increasingly active and loves to spend his weekends laughing with mom and dad. Henry is a happy baby.

Since Henry's last blog he has 1) been to his first Oklahoma county fair, 2) learned to roll from his back to his tummy, 3) started pulling his knees under his tummy...maybe he's going to crawl afterall (we thought he might go straight to walking), 4) discovered Handsome Henry likes wearing hats, 5) tested his high chair, and 6) started brushing his two new teeth.

Naked Henry...what a cute bum

Now I can see!

Come on, let's go

Four months

Henry had his 4-month well baby check-up before we left for Colorado. He is still in the 95th percentile for height - 26.5 inches! His weight has actually dropped to the 75th percentile - 16 lbs. 13 oz. I know this is hard for many of you to believe...especially after seeing those legs of his. Henry put on quite a show for Dr. Wilsey and her nurses. He was Mr. Chatterbox and performed all his new tricks - rolling over (he almost rolled off the table), talking, reading/looking at books, sitting and standing (with mom's help). He even had two bottom teeth to show off! Everyone was there to see it - Mom, Candice (our nanny) and Grandma. We had a full house...do doubt there was love in the room.

One Happy Henry (our favorite nightie is getting a wee bit snug)

Henry...chillaxin

Yeah Cowboys!

Henry's first road trip

Over Labor Day weekend, the Shaw family gallivanted to Castle Rock, CO to visit Cousin Ricky. Why didn't someone warn us about taking a four month old on a 26 hour road trip?! But Henry did well...just a few bouts of car seat aggravation and restlessness. The baby piano Aunt Carolina gave Henry was a life saver on our trip home. Wade and I will forever be singing about the "one silly cow, two pink pigs, three fluffy sheep, four kitty cats and five daffy ducks". Sort of reminded me of A Partridge in a Pear Tree.

We had a wonderful time in Castle Rock w/ Cousin Ricky. Ricky – Henry is already looking forward to seeing you again at Christmas! We stopped at Dumas on the way to Colorado, and at Pampa on our drive home. The pit stops were great…just what Henry needed. Everyone was able to stretch their legs and spend more time w/ family.

Fast asleep and on our way to Dumas

I love you, Cousin Ricky
