Blood results

Thanks for everyone’s prayers and words of encouragement. The half-day blood test results came back good! No insulin shots, or constant glucose monitoring. The only instructions I have are to eat SIX small meals a day. Who has time to do this?! I have a 23 month-old, who is ALWAYS on the go. But I will find a way, and I’m thankful no shots or finger pricks are needed. I did, however, look like a heroin addict at Ann’s wedding. I was quite a sight in my formal dress and bruises…the low iron and multiple needle sticks made for lovely arms.

My high powered iron supplements have been a blessing. I’ve had more energy this week than I have since getting pregnant. I actually went walking yesterday evening without experiencing any dizziness. Amazing. The doctor did tell me that I was one month behind in weight gain. My response – “Are you freaking kidding me?!” I suppose I carry all two feet of baby right out in front.

I put on a non-maternity medium T-shirt last night before making a Wal-Mart run. I came out to the garage…Wade and Henry were waiting on me…and Wade said, “Wow…a little snug, huh?” Someone needs to explain to my husband that these are comments you keep to yourself during the third trimester. Aside from the occasion Freudian slip, Wade has been AWESOME these past few months…but then, that’s really no surprise.

Another Peanut update – because we are being surprised and waiting to find out Peanut’s sex until delivery day, we chose a neutral nursery theme – Dr. Seuss. Since Henry’s been sleeping in his big boy bed, I’ve been able to “nest” and prepare for baby. It’s been so much fun! And Henry has been quite the helper. Daddy and Henry are making a book shelf, Henry’s been sorting through his toys, and I’ve been sorting through the dozens of 0-3 month onsies in Henry’s closet. I figure that even if we have a girl, if she’s got reflux like Henry had, we’ll need ALL the onsies we can pack in her dresser…blue or pink won’t make a bit of difference. I think Henry went through at least two or three changes a day those first few months…and I went through AT LEAST three shirts.

Thanks again for all of your prayers and support during my testing.
