7 Months Old!

We can hardly believe Henry is now seven months old?! Since I last wrote, Henry has hit some major milestones -

Henry is now enjoying veggies (peas, green beans, carrots, squash, sweet potatoes) and fruits (bananas, pears, applesauce, peaches). He has had his first sip of water and apple juice (no added sweetner) and has even attempted to feed himself Gerber "puffs". Once Henry masters puffs, it's on to Cheerios.

We wonder what we're going to do about that head?! At seven months, Henry is about to outgrow his 12 month cowboy hat.

Henry has grown to love bath time more and more. He gets so excited that he grunts and splashes the entire time he's in the water. This makes cleaning him a challenge.

You've seen his costume, but you haven't seen the cute tee Candice picked up for him to sport Halloween Day.

Grandma had back surgery the week before Thanksgiving and Henry and I frequented the hospital for several days.

Henry worked hard to keep Grandma's bed warm while she was out walking the halls.

Okay, so it wasn't all work...there was definitely some play.

In the last month, Henry has also experienced his first Thanksgiving and Christmas party - he was the hit of the evening.

Henry got excited about the Christas tree. He's grabbing lights and ornaments every chance he gets. It may be the motivation he needs to crawl.

Yes, that's actually hair you see. Henry is working on that too. Hair AND his first upper tooth (only one...going to be a snaggle tooth I'm afraid).

Our boy is going to be active! Unless he's tired, it is getting difficult to hold on to Henry. He LOVES to move and spends most of his days rocking back and forth either sitting on his cowboy blanket, or on his hands and knees. We suspect he'll be crawling by Christmas. Look out Grandma and Mamaw! Henry Shaw is coming to town...better move those Christmas tree ornaments up a few branches.

First Halloween

Henry celebrated his first Halloween early at Life Group. Henry the dino, Andrew the lion and Esther the lady bug were a hoot!

Touch my hair, Andrew...if you hold real still, you can feel it growing.

6 month well baby check

Henry had his 6 month visit with Dr. Wilsey on October 29. He did smashingly. Henry weighed 20 lbs 12.2 ozs, which landed him in the 95th percentile for weight. He dropped to the 90th percentile for height and rose ABOVE 95% for head circumference. Our Henry is going to be so smart!

For Henry's 6 month pictures we ventured to OSU's botanical gardens. Below are just a few of our favorites.

Kansas City

Henry experienced his second road trip this past weekend. The Ward girls gallivanted to Kansas City for two days for some much needed rest and relaxation. Best buy of the weekend was a cowboy hat for Henry, which he enjoyed sporting around the hotel room.

While kicking back in our room, Henry also worked on those stubborn upper teeth.

And while Henry may appear the largest/oldest of the bunch, Andrew has him beat by 15 days.

More fun with Henry's new hat

Cereal - yum, yum!

Henry was finally able to experience his first bowl of cereal. He is eating like a champ...unless daddy is in the room. Then, Henry is much too busy watching Wade to bother with cereal. We started with adding cereal to his bottle and using "fast flow" nipples. Once we did this, the "slow flow" nipples quickly became a thing of the past. Henry much prefers chugging to sipping formula. Feeding time is messy! Sort of reminds us of our reflux days.

Our first cereal and spoon

After our cereal, we had a much needed bath

Another play date w/ Andrew

We're slowly growing into our high-chair

And finally, a second play date w/ our good friend, Sara, who came to stay with us Sunday night.

5 Months Old

We can hardly believe Henry had his 5 month birthday last Thursday...where has the time gone?! It seems like yesterday we were pouring over the Q&A's in "What to Expect the First Year".

While Wade was off enjoying a day of college football with Mick, Henry and I partied with the Class of '98 in Blackwell during Homecoming. Henry experienced his first parade, football game (albeit high school), and on Sunday night, his first helping of cereal. He was so pooped from the weekend, Henry slept until 7:30 Monday morning.

Grandma surprised Henry with his very own Blackwell jumperoo. Doesn't he look surprised?

Look at me! I'm jump, jump, jumperoo-ing!

How about this hat...does it make me look fat?
