Wraith Falls, Mammoth Hot Springs & Old Faithful

On Monday we decided to cover some of the more popular spots near the north entrance to the park - Wraith Falls and Mammoth Hot Springs.

A cow elk to welcome us to Yellowstone

While Wraith Falls is a good place to stretch your legs, I wouldn't necessarily call it a "hike." It is a heavily trafficked out and back trail, but worth a quick walk to see the falls.

Sam was trying so hard not to smile...

I had to dance a jig in front of strangers, but he finally cracked.

More wildflowers...the bright purples and yellows speckled the mountains and trails. The colors were beautiful.

After Mammoth, we got a wild hair and decided to drive farther south through the Norris and Madison junctions to see Old Faithful...and lots of buffalo along the way.

We picnicked along the Firehole River between Madison and Old Faithful. It was THE perfect spot to hang the hammocks and give the kids time to explore.

I desperately wanted a picture with all my kiddos where they were all looking at the camera and smiling in unison...this proved to be an IMPOSSIBLE feat.

Performing his balancing act on the nature-made balance beam...

Falling, falling...

And successfully recovered.

I think Charlie is trying to give Henry a wet willy.

Given the expression on his face, I'd guess she was successful.

More beam performances.

Little bit was frustrated she wasn't able to walk the logs like her big brothers...which was our cue to pack up and continue our journey to Old Faithful.

Waiting patiently for Old Faithful atop Dad's shoulders.

And finally, after a long day of adventure, we enjoyed the scenic drive back to our cabin in Paradise.

Another cow elk to bid us farewell.

More Yellowstone adventures to come!
