Hakuna Matata

What a wonderful phrase! Hakuna Matata...

In late September, Wade and I took Henry on a very special date to Wichita, KS to see Disney's Lion King. It was his first Broadway musical, but it's certain not to be his last.

It was such a fun day...and as good as the show was, getting to spend an entire day with Henry was the highlight for this mom and dad.

Since seeing Lion King, Henry insists on listening to the soundtrack over and over AND OVER on the way to and from school. He even has his favorite songs picked out and memorized.

With Sugar on Top

So, because I can't eat them, I thought I'd post about them...them being COOKIES. I love COOKIES. And someday, I will have them again. Or, learn how to make them without sugar. But until then, I will continue baking them for my boys, blogging about them, and of course, dreaming about them.

Henry just decided to take one of each.

 

The icing was a big hit with Sam...after two bites of cookie, he opted to forgo the cookie and skip right to the icing.

 

Only Sam could transfer icing from his face to his ankle.

 

Yes, it is true...we ate over a Drip Pan in the playroom.

 

Allow me to explain...a drip pan makes an excellent magnet board. We have a large one hanging in the playroom for practicing our numbers and letters. Thank you, Pinterest.

In keeping with the Cowboy spirit, I attempted to Gundy-ize Sam's hair...but the styling gel and Sam's fingers proved a bit too eager. The higher his hair stood, the more excited he got. And I didn't have the heart to deflate his hair or his enthusiasm. So, yes...we did go out in public with that hair. Sam was very proud.

 

Of course, the game had to be in the middle of Sam's nap time...but that didn't stop him.

 

Even after touchdowns, wild cheering, and "ORANGE!!!" "POWER!!!"...

 

Sam slept on.

Lives, Legends and Legacies

On Friday, October 19, after all work obligations were fulfilled, my boys (all three) and I partook in Walkaround. Most OSU alums describe "America's Greatest Homecoming Celebration" with one word: Walkaround. Henry and Sam LOVE the crowd and are always fascinated by the house decorations, which the Greek community spends hundreds of hours building. Kuddos to you, Greek commuity! And, thanks to a generous friend, we were even able to attend the game the following afternoon.

Sam was particularly fond of the live music. He insisted on listening to several songs by this particular band, and was in deep concentration the entire time...well, at least until he started dancing.
